Root Canal Treatment

Restoring teeth that have become non-vital

Whether due to deep decay, trauma, or other reasons root canal can help extend the life of damaged teeth

What is root canal?

When a tooth is extensively damaged due to decay, or trauma, this can involve the nerve of a tooth. Once this part of the tooth becomes damaged it can die, leading to a dental infection.

In order to treat this infection the tooth is either removed (extracted), or can have root canal treatment carried out. Root canal treatment involves carefully cleaning and shaping the inside of a tooth. Following this process the root canal system is sealed up to help prevent recurrence of the infection. Often a crown is used to put the tooth back together following root canal treatment.
